APPS UK DEMANDS A GOVERNMENT INQUIRY INTO THE SUPPLY OF APPARENTLY OUTDATED FFP3 MASKS IN SOME HOSPITALS

APPS UK has seen evidence of PPE masks being supplied to frontline hospital staff which expired in 2015.

Incidents have been reported by a number of APPS UK members, from various NHS Trusts, of masks with expiry dates in 2015 displaying stickers extending expiry dates to 2017 and 2020.

We believe that these very old masks are not fit for purpose and are putting the lives of our members at risk.

We request Health Secretary, Matt Hancock MP, to urgently look into this matter, and remove these very old masks from the supply chain.

In the interests of transparency, we demand evidence of the processes that were utilised to change the expiry dates on these masks.

APPS UK is committed to protecting the lives of its members. If immediate action is not taken, we are prepared to take all necessary steps to safeguard our members.

APPS UK urges all frontline NHS staff to check expiry dates on their PPE before using them.
